If You Carry Epi-Pens, You Need a Training Device Too
Watching videos on how to use an epinephrine auto-injector may NOT be enough. True story.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When we first saw the allergist, I told her we were prescribed an epi pen and I know how to use it. She gave me a tester pen and said "Show me". I did and I failed her test!!! I did not use the epi-pen correctly despite having watch the vidoes (at least 5 times!!). I did not know how much pressure to put on my thigh and the device did not click.

If you carry an epinephrine auto-injector, I strongly recommend that you practice with a tester pen....even if you think you know how to use it. Holding the pen in your hand, knowing how much pressure to apply and what it feels like can make a huge difference.

You can order a FREE tester pen from the company's website. This is also a great training device for other caregivers. Teach them and then let them show you!!
